Hosted at FORTH Heraklion,
Crete 21-22 June 2024

On the first day, we had scientific presentations by all partners that were open to the broader scientific community. Dr.Vasiliki Theodorou (IMBB-FORTH, SCENTINEL co-PI, project coordination and management) opened the consortium’s meeting, welcomed and presented the rationale behind building the project based on scientific needs and the aims of the team. (link).

It was a pleasure having Dr.Kasia Siudeja (Institute Curie) as an invited speaker to present her work ‘Genetic mosaicism in Drosophila intestine and the activity of retrotransposons (link).

Prof.Christos Delidakis (IMBB-FORTH, SCENTINEL co-PI, coordination) presented work from his lab on ‘Drosophila brain tumor models’ (link).

Dr.Angela Giangrande (IGBMC, SCENTINEL co-PI) presented work from her team on ‘Drosophila immune cells in development and disease’ (link). Dr. Freddy Monteiro (IRB) presented the IRB Functional Genomics Core Facility, workflow and processing of single-cell projects (link). Dr.Camille Otto-Attolini (IRB, SCENTINEL co-PI) presented the workflow of single-cell services at the IRB Biostatstics/Bioinformatics Core Facility (link).

Mattieu Lavigne (IMBB, SCENTINEL co-PI) presented work from his lab on ‘Transcriptional regulation’ (link). Ass.Prof.Vasiliki Petousi (Uoc) presented on the involvement of a ‘Social Scientist’s involvement in biomedical research’ (link). Dr.Nikos Konstantinides (CNRS IJM) presented his lab’s work on ‘Neuronal diversity in development and evolution’ (link). PhD candidate Sergei Pirogov represented Prof.Mattias Mannervik lab and presented on ‘Chromatin dynamics in Drosophila embryonic development’ (link).

On the second day, IMBB members (V.Theodorou, M.Stapountzi and V.Kapoulea) gave a hands-on session attended by (P.Cattonez, N.KOnstantinides and S. Porogov) on Drosophila CNS injections in host flies for allograft tumor propagation and on dissection and isolation of tumor material for genomics assays and staining for immunohistochemistry.
